Lord Falconer, PC QC (Chair) - Former Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, Charlie Falconer has long been aware of the need to cut the UK’s burgeoning prison population. He is deeply concerned by the ‘revolving’ door syndrome and keen to support initiatives that can break this pattern by ensuring that those serving time develop skills to give them the best chance of rehabilitation.
Karen Barnes - Award-winning Editor of one of the UK’s most highly respected and influential food magazines, Delicious, Karen has many years experience of collaborating with chefs, producers, big stores, food campaigners, food writers and cause-driven food projects making her ideally qualified to advise on how to create a winning food social enterprise.
Janet Boston - For 15 years Janet volunteered as an independent monitor at Holloway prison where she became Chair of the Board. Professionally her experience includes seven years as the CEO of two charities managing funds of £12mn+ and doubling income; and fourteen years building a production company with teams of up to 20 and budgets of £700k.
Catriona Fox - Former Head of Fundraising for ChildHope and Fundraising & Communications Manager for Find Your Feet, Catriona provides a combination of strategic fundraising and communications advice and assistance to a range of different charities and not-for-profit.
Lord Faulks QC - Edward Faulks is an experienced Barrister with a longstanding interest in the Criminal Justice System. He sat as a Recorder for 10 years. Until July 2016 he was a Minister of State at the Ministry of Justice and as the Department’s spokesman in the House of Lords, prisons were part of his portfolio. In this capacity he visited many UK prisons including Pentonville
Julia Killick, CBE - Julia joined the Prison service in 1998 and retired in December 2015. During that time then she became the number one Governor of Haslar Immigration Removal Centre and Guys Marsh Prison, a Cat C male training prison. Under Julia’s direction Guy’s Marsh became a Centre of Excellence. From 2010 Julia governed Europe’s largest female prison, Holloway, where her determination and drive saw it recognised for its safe, decent regime and transition into a resettlement prison delivering commercial contracts.
Phil King - Phil is an adviser specializing in enterprise development to a range of early stage social businesses which have included People Tree and Ubuntu. Phil's roles have included being Head of Strategic Finance at Ecotricity when turnover doubled over 2 years to £38m and Finance Director to Cafedirect when income tripled to £22m.
Kevin Reilly - Kevin is Acting Prison Group Director for London and Thames Valley Prisons with responsibility for 10 custodial establishments. Previously, Kevin was Governor of HMP Pentonville for 4 years where, despite the odds and faced with an incredibly challenging and complex environment he spearheaded the introduction of innovative approaches to rehabilitation, delivering according to the June 2017 Inspection “a tangible sense of purpose and optimism among his senior management team, which were having a galvanising effect on the staff group as a whole”.
